A big shout-out to all of you who gave me advice on the brows. Especially [livejournal.com profile] grooviegirl -- that was exactly what I needed to know!

I have both eyebrow pencil and some eyeshadow in the right shades, so my brows are no longer deformed. :) Actually, when I looked at them a few hours after I posted, I realized that I absolutely got the shape right. The woman who has been doing my brows since I started always gave me a really high arch with a comparatively thick starting point and a thin ending point. Somehow, I managed to tweeze my brows into a thicker, more streamlined shape that I really like. I just need to have the centers grow back a little bit, and I'll be OK.

The only problem with using pencil/powder on my brows is that they're really defined. Which meant that I had to make my eyes match, so out came the eyelash curler, the new mascara (I highly recommend Maybelline's Unstoppable -- it's the best I've used in years!), concealer for my natural dark undereye circles, and powder over that. Then I had to do my cheeks and finish with the new gloss I bought yesterday. :) I look great -- but I was 15 minutes late getting out of the house this morning!

Speaking of, I saw the career counselor again today. I got the results back of the test I took to gauge my skills and interests. Big surprise, I'm interested in writing and helping people. :) I also scored high for social work, and I've always thought about doing that. The counselor recommended that I start looking for jobs that involve writing for an association, like the job I applied for with the American Veterinary Medical Association. She also recommended that I look at corporate communications, writing internal newsletters and such for a company. I haven't found any jobs like this in a year of searching (except for the AVMA one, but that was luck), so the next step for the counselor to help me embark on my job search. I'm really excited! I feel like I finally have a direction, and it's the right one for me.

I just put the AVMA application in the mail yesterday, so it'll be a while before I hear anything on it. I'm waiting to hear back from Roanoke this week. I'm expecting that the next step there will be to go in for an interview. I'm looking forward to it.

And [livejournal.com profile] deeviantlove's advice about looking at my finances and how long I need to earn my fabulous salary has helped a lot. I haven't worked the numbers on it in detail, but I think that within 18 months -- once my credit cards are paid off -- I should be able to absorb a decent pay cut. And another year after that, my car will be paid off. Those are the biggest expenses in my monthly budget, and once they're gone, I'll be free to do what I want. Knowing that I'm working toward that time is making me feel better, too.

To top it off, I bought a hip-hop mix CD from WalMart yesterday. It's all songs from the early '90s, so I was cruizin' down Monument Avenue today blasting "O.P.P." and "Rump Shaker" and "Jump Around." Talk about flashbacks to college! It made me happy.

Today is a good day. :)
