Jan. 20th, 2005 05:08 pmI took the townhouse I saw this morning! I'm so excited and relieved to have this over with. I think I made the best decision, too.
The townhouse has brand-new Berber carpet, a dishwasher, central air, huge closets and a cheaper deposit than the $550 house would have had. It also has a heat pump, which should hopefully mean not-outrageous electric bills. Oh, and lawn maintenance is not my problem, which will be a nice break. The only downside is no washer/dryer, but I'm OK with that since there are *nine* laundry rooms in the complex. (At least one of them has to be nicer than going to a laundromat!) The neighborhood the complex is in is even a little nicer than where I live now. And I really liked the management staff. To top it off, they offered to have me sign a lease tomorrow and take the keys without paying January rent! I'm sold.

I called the owner of the $550 house to tell her I had found somewhere else, and she didn't sound too disappointed. Landlord Chris said that he talked to her Tuesday and she really, really liked me, but honestly, it didn't sound like she had made a decision about renting the house to anyone when I called today. I need to book movers and generally get things rolling SOON. I just couldn't keep waiting.
So now I have to start the next phase: the dreaded PACKING. I'm not looking forward to it, but them's the breaks. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend. :)
