Welcome, Pinhead!
Feb. 15th, 2005 06:09 pmEveryone, take a moment to go say hello to
polargirrl, otherwise know as my Pinhead, Kerry!
Kerry and I first met when we were 4. We went to Montessori preschool together, and continued on to kindergarten at St. Charles Borromeo School in the beauteous suburb of Greece, New York. Then Kerry went to public school for first grade, and I didn't see her again until we were 18. As chance would have it, we were among the winners of a scholarship program, and we re-met at the scholarship dinner. AND Kerry had gone to junior high with a friend of mine from high school, who was also at the dinner. AND Kerry was a HUGE Rocky Horror fan!
Of course, our fate was sealed. We were inseperable for those last weeks before we went to different colleges, then kept in touch via e-mail and awesome, awesome cards and letters.
After graduation, Kerry moved to Atlanta, then Toledo. We still kept in touch, although a bit more sporadically than in college. Last year, we double reconnected as she started to search for meaning in her marriage. A year later, she's in the process of becoming single and learning just how hard it is to be a woman who knows she wants sex and isn't afraid to admit it -- and that it doesn't make her a slut.
In her spare time, Kerry is completing her Ph.D. in either biology or ecology (I've lost track), and her work involves traveling to Antartica, Spain, England and all over the U.S. (Yes, I'm jealous!) Hopefully, Kerry will be moving to North Carolina next year, when she finishes her doctorate. Then all of you in Norfolk will meet her at Rocky!
Yes, this was a long-winded intro, but you all need to understand the fabulousness that is My Pinhead. (She calls me Pillowhead. Long story.) So go say hello, and as an added bonus, try to explain to her what exactly is wrong with men these days. Heck, I'd like to know, too!
